About The Burt
The Burt building is located in the historic antique district of downtown Hutchinson on the corner of West Avenue B and South Main Street. Originally the home of The Shaw Theater in 1901, architect, C.L. Burt, reconstructed the building after the 1929 flood in Hutchinson. Over the years, the first-floor storefronts ranged from a drug store, beauty shop, auto repair shop, and café, while the second floor housed the popular Crystal Ballroom, hosting dances and bands for many years. In March of 2017, Fair City Folk Art bought the building with the intention of creating a Folk Art museum. But we just couldn’t resist bringing back the Crystal Ballroom! We’ve added a touch of class and state-of-the-art amenities, so you and your guests will have an exquisite place to host your event.
